Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd.
In order to fulfill the Cosmo Energy Group Management Vision, “Striving for an infinite tomorrow, developing sustainably in harmony with humanity, society, and our planet.” we recognize the importance of seeing human resources as important assets and maximizing their value. Accordingly, we aim to improve well-being by proactively promoting the active participation of diverse human resources, and by creating workplace environments that help employees stay healthy and work energetically.
The rapidly changing and unpredictable nature of the world today has given rise to the acronym, VUCA, which stands for “volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.” The energy industry, like many others, finds itself in an era of unprecedented change. In addition to ensuring a stable supply of energy to support today’s needs, the industry is also being asked to develop and supply new cleaner forms of energy that can support the society of the future. We are clear that, if we want our company to grow sustainably in this environment, we must build workplaces where diverse employees can make the most of their abilities and improve their individual strengths. While doing this, we will make rational decisions from a range of options to achieve innovation and high productivity.
At the Cosmo Energy Group, diversity does not simply mean employing people with different attributes such as age, gender, nationality, occupation type, affiliation, and work history. Instead, our goal is for individual employees with diverse values to respect and accept each other, leverage their individual strengths, and contribute to the Group and society.
Accordingly, our Code of Conduct requires executives and employees to prevent discrimination, respect the uniqueness of each individual, and strive to create workplaces where every individual can demonstrate their abilities. Moreover, our Human Resource Policy calls for respecting employee diversity and treating everyone fairly to foster corporate unity. When companies only have people with certain attributes (i.e., a specific age group, gender, and culture, etc.), attitudes tend to become rigid. This functions to exclude people with different attributes, which in turn inhibits innovation, productivity improvement, and rational decision-making.
In order to avoid developing such rigid mindsets, the Cosmo Energy Group has started by prioritizing career advancement support for women in the workforce, and has set numerical targets. At the same time, we aim to create workplaces where everyone can reach their full potential, even if they have different working-hour or location requirements due to responsibilities such as childcare or nursing care. The Group will provide work-style options that emphasize productivity rather than particular times or places.
By enabling every employee to understand how diversity is a key factor for corporate growth and to truly embrace people with a range of different values and perspectives, the Cosmo Energy Group aims to increase its corporate value while promoting the creation of workplaces where diverse employees can thrive.
One of the Cosmo Energy Group’s important ESG challenges (material issues) is promoting human resources’ success, health, and job satisfaction. We will address the following six points to fulfill our vision for addressing this material issue, and we are implementing initiatives accordingly.
