Cosmo Introduces Domestic Biodiesel “Cosmo CF-5” and “Cosmo Zero Carbon Credit” Package for Buses Operating Out of Sotetsu Bus’s Asahi Bus Depot

Cosmo Energy Group companies—Cosmo Oil Marketing Co., Ltd. (hereafter, “the Company”) and COSMO ENERGY SOLUTIONS COMPANY LIMITED—in collaboration with SORITSU KOSAN CO., LTD., have begun supplying domestically produced biodiesel fuel, “Cosmo CF-5¹,” to buses operated out of Sotetsu Bus Co., Ltd.’s Asahi Bus Depot, from March 18, 2025. Concurrently, the companies plan to offset carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from the diesel component of Cosmo CF-5 using the “Cosmo Zero Carbon Credit²” service.

This initiative aligns with the Sotetsu Group’s Environmental Vision, aiming to reduce CO₂ emissions and realize a circular society through the use of biofuels. Used cooking oil collected from Sotetsu Bus’s employee cafeterias will be utilized in refining and producing Cosmo CF-5. This approach supports the recycling of regional resources while minimizing the environmental impact of fuel used in bus operations.

Furthermore, CO₂ emissions from the diesel fuel contained in Cosmo CF-5 will be offset through the concurrent use of the Cosmo Zero Carbon Credit service. This effort reduces environmental impact through a three-pronged approach: utilizing biodiesel fuel, recycling regional resources, and implementing carbon offsetting.

The Cosmo Energy Group supports the Sotetsu Group’s Environmental Vision and is committed to actively pursuing business activities such as those aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
