1969Former Maruzen Oil Research Center is relocated from Shimotsu, Wakayama to Satte, Saitama
1986With the establishment of Cosmo Oil Co., Ltd., Cosmo Oil Research & Development Center is opened in Satte, Saitama in a tripartite merger between Daikyo Oil Technology Research Center (Inabacho, Yokkaichi), Daikyo Oil Yokohama Research Center (Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama), and Maruzen Oil Research Center
1987Cosmo Oil Research & Development Center’s New Business Development Division is separated to establish Cosmo Ventures Inc. - Development Research Center
1988Cosmo Ventures Inc.’s Research & Study Department and both research centers are consolidated, merged, and spun off as Cosmo Research Institute (CRI). The institute is subsequently renamed Cosmo Research & Development Center
1998Cosmo Oil Lubricants Co., Ltd. is established, and Cosmo Energy’s Lubricating Oil Division’s research and development function is spun off to form Research & Development Laboratory
2001CRI’s Research & Development Department and the Cosmo Research & Development Center are transferred to Cosmo Oil and renamed Cosmo Oil Research & Development Center
