Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd.
Cosmo Oil Marketing Co., Ltd.
Cosmo Energy Group company, Cosmo Oil Marketing Co., Ltd. (hereafter, “Cosmo Oil Marketing”), announced that it has begun supplying 100% renewable energy-derived electricity to 75 municipal facilities, including the city hall main building and elementary and junior high schools, in Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture, starting on March 1, 20251.
In 2020, Yachiyo City declared itself a “Zero Carbon City” and has been working on environmental preservation and the creation of a decarbonized society to promote sustainable urban development, with the goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In addition, in the Yachiyo City Global Warming Prevention Action Plan (Administrative Operations, 5th Revised Edition), the city has set a target of reducing total greenhouse gas emissions (CO2 equivalent) by 34% by FY2030 compared to FY2013 levels.
As an initiative to contribute to the realization of this plan, Cosmo Oil Marketing will offer its renewable energy-derived electricity plan, Cosmo Denki (Electricity) Business Green2, to Yachiyo City facilities covered under the agreement. The plan provides renewable energy-derived electricity, endorsed by a non-fossil certificate with tracking information linked to a renewable energy source that falls under Japan’s Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) scheme, such as wind power generated by Cosmo Eco Power Co., Ltd., a Cosmo Energy Group company.

This accounts for approximately 33%4 of the electricity consumed across the city's administrative operations and is expected to result in an annual CO2 emissions reduction of approximately 5,940 tons.
Going forward, Cosmo Oil Marketing remains committed to supporting local governments and companies in reducing their environmental impact and will continue to undertake various initiatives toward the realization of a decarbonized society.
