QATAR PETROLEUM DEVELOPMENT SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH QATARENERGY TO CONTINUE AL-KARKARA AND A-STRUCTURES OFFSHORE FIELDS DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION

Japan’s Qatar Petroleum Development Co., Ltd. (Japan) (hereinafter referred to as “QPD”), a subsidiary of Cosmo Energy Exploration & Production Co., Ltd., is pleased to announce the conclusion of a new agreement with QatarEnergy to continue its operation in Block 1 SE located offshore Qatar, which will come into effect after the expiry of the current contract.
QPD has been developing and producing crude oil in the block for 25 years since the signing of the current contract in 1997.
QPD has initiated discussions with QatarEnergy regarding the possible extension of its operation in Qatar, in advance of the expiration of the current contract. QPD strongly believes that the conclusion of the new contract is a result of the long-standing good relationship with Qatar.
Through the operation in block 1 SE in Qatar, we will continue to maintain the stable and efficient energy supply while striving to strengthen our competitiveness.
