Cosmo Energy Holdings Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Cosmo”) today announced that it has appointed Ms. Noriko Rzonca as Chief Digital Officer (CDO), effective November 1, 2021, and that it will aggressively pursue digital transformation (DX) across the entire Cosmo Energy Group (hereinafter referred to as “the Group”) as follows.

2. About the DX Strategy of the Cosmo Energy Group
In order to achieve targets set forth in The Sixth Consolidated Medium-Term Management Plan (FY2018-FY2022), “Oil & New” (hereinafter referred to as “the Plan”), the Group has been working on the adoption of technology in its business operations, such as proactively introducing robotic process automation (RPA).
Since the formulation of the Plan, however, the Fourth Industrial Revolution (growth and changes driven by big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), etc.) has gained momentum to an extent far beyond the adoption of technology. Against this backdrop, Cosmo has determined that the Group must urgently undergo a digital technology-driven business model transformation in order to keep up with the speed and business activities required of the times.
Recognizing this need for change, Cosmo has set the goal of fostering and realizing a corporate culture whereby the use of digital technology is the norm, so that the Group can fit in and grow in a digital society.
Furthermore, Cosmo will establish the Corporate DX Strategy Department under direct oversight of the Group CEO and appoint Ms. Noriko Rzonca Ph.D., a data science and DX strategy expert, as CDO and General Manager of the Corporate DX Strategy Department.
Under her leadership, the Corporate DX Strategy Department will formulate the Group's DX strategy in fiscal 2021 with the aim of beginning full-scale DX efforts from fiscal 2022. Specific areas of focus are as follows:
- 1. Enhancing the customer experience (CX)
- 2. Cultivating DX human resources, with a focus on digital and data science talent, throughout the Group
- 3. Motivating employees to ensure speedy innovation and building of a sustainable organization
Going forward, Cosmo will continue to stay abreast of the latest digitalization trends and aggressively promote DX to meet the expectations of its customers and society. Specifically, the Group will offer a stable energy supply, expand its clean energy capacity centered on wind power generation, and provide value that supports the car life, mobility, and lifestyle of its customers.
